Introducing Bramble
Bramble is a
Havanese, born on Saturday, 12th March 2022. His ancestors came from Cuba, but already have quite a following
in Britain as well as (for example)
across the Great Pond.
He is a lively and lovely hound, full of mischief and keen on new adventures! On this, his personal web page, you can share in some of his active life!

Introducing Bramble

Bramble's First Two Months - 2022
Bramble spent about two months (8 weeks and 5 days to be exact!) at his nursery (breeder of canines!). This time gave our hero a first introduction to life and other canines - and also humans! Health checking, including weighing, was par for the course. Communal dining was also part of his daily ritual.

Looks serene, but a life of activity and mischief is still in the future!

He's an intelligent guy, intensely oberving the world about him.

Bramble's Youth - 2022
At the grand age of 8 weeks and 5 days Bramble came to his new owners. He quickly made friends with the cats and also with Herbie, the Border Terrier who is owned by the sister of Mr Owner! Herbie was born on 12th February 2021, and so is Bramble's senior by about one year and one month.
One of Bramble's duties is to allow himself to be kept neat and clean. This is a challenge since he has to have a haircut every 6 to 8 weeks, and he doesn't like to be brushed afterwards! Other "pet hates" are water, showers and baths. Still, he makes up for this disdain for canine valeting by being an extremely fun loving hound!

Today is the first day Bramble is in his new home.
He is enjoying his welcome dinner!

Meeting "Midnight Tom"
Tom came as a rescue cat on 26th May 2018
and was believed then to be about 5 years old.
No more is known, so it is assumed he was born on 26th May 2013
- quite an age difference compared to the two hounds!!
(Tom's assumed birthday is duely celebrated with an exclusive tin of Tuna.)

Bramble and Herbie have become very close friends.
One of their favourite past times is rummaging through the shoe store.

These activities can be quite strenuous,
so, afterwards, Bramble and Herbie do need to take a rest.

Bramble Grows Up - 2023
There is a whole wide world outside - not just Herbie and Tom. New friends to make! One of the visits is to the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary & Visitor Centre - all those new acquaintances to make!

Anecdotes and Activities
Anecdotes and Activities, it is said, help to make the individual. They are, after all, part of life's experience. And so it is with Bramble! Bramble's view of the world already became apparent during the first two years of his life. Here we see a number of aspects that we can regard as "pure Bramble"!
-
Barking.
Bramble likes to bark at pigeons in the garden, at flies in the house and at aircraft with flashing lights at night; the latter, perhaps he deems to be "lit up" pigeons!.
It was important to buy a barking collar so as that Bramble would not upset the neighbours! The collar vibrates and beeps when he barks. It has not been used much in earnest, because when he has it on, he doesn't know if the batteries have run out. Having it on is sufficient not to bark!
-
Howling.
He howls if one of the family goes into a shop and he's left outside with the others. He also howls when he hears an ambulance or fire engine.

Bramble Sleeping
(2026-05-29)
-
Dreaming Bramble doesn't snore. He dreams (little woofs in his sleep) and chases/runs (legs flick and kick). He loves sleeping on his back.
-
Valeting. Bramble is definitely not an enthusiast of canine valeting. He has a haircut every six to eight weeks, but absolutely hates being brushed! Indeed, showers and baths are not his scene. He lives for the moment, and washing does not fit into his concept of a life well lived!

Bramble The Inquisitive

-
Travels - Other Animals! Bramble travels a lot with his "family". One of his excursions was in 2022 on 6th August to Jimmy's Farm near Ipswich. As you see elsewhere on Bramble's page, this was followed up in 2023 on 14th May to the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary & Visitor Centre, Brentwood.
-
Days at the Seaside. Bramble does like to be beside the sea. Latterly, he visited Broadstairs in Kent on April 17 2025, and Clacton on May 23 in 2026. He's also been to some Nuclear Power Stations, such as Dungeness and Bradwell, but, does not, as yet, glow in the dark!

Bramble - From Teenager to Adult
On 12th March 2024, Bramble was 2 years of (dog) age. If, as a debatable starting point, seven human years equate to 1 dog year, then that would make Bramble a 14 year old teenager! Here we shall look at the years 2024 to 2026 (14 to 28 human years). You will see Bramble in a variety of poses - ranging from the dignified to the playful. We shall also see Bramble at Christmas and Bramble at the seaside!

Bramble - His Future
Ah! Could we but predict the future! However, Havanese hounds can typically live to about 14 to 16 years and Bramble has many years ahead. He also has so many positive aspects in his life: family and friends, exercise, food, and a caring environment - not to mention regular checkups at the vet!. Bramble's future looks bright!
