Our Last Day Ladybower Goodbye Please Read Me

Our Last Day

On our last day, many of us went to the Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs nearby. We combined a pleasant waterside stroll with a small climb on to the hills to the east. It was a fitting way to end our short holiday. We all said our farewells back at the Visitor Centre, and having managed to escape its clutches, wended our various ways back down to the Deep South.

Ladybower & Derwent Reservoirs

The Ladybower Reservoir Visitor Centre was just oozing with opportunities for visitors to part with their money, so we had to make a quick escape. Off we marched to the Derwent Reservoir whose waters are held back by what looks like an early 20th century dam.

Here is the other side of the dam.

The man-made scene looks peaceful enough, but apparently played host not only to Barnes Wallis's dam busting experiments, but also to the film makers of the "Dam Busters" which celebrated his activities.

We have the opportunity to soak up some more of the scenery ...

... and then gather for a group picture.

One by one, we scale the nearby heights, ...

... for that last bit of exercise of the holiday, ...

... but then decide it's time to go home.

A last look at the Derwent Reservoir before we head for the Deep South.

Goodbye

Many Thanks!
